Context

Niger is a Sahelian country with a population of roughly 21.5 million people[1], 50.1% of whom are females. It is one of the poorest countries in the world, and was ranked last in the world according to the 2018 Human Development Index (HDI) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
